The Latest BOSS Tech for More Power & More Versatility
With its next-generation COSM processor, intuitive interface, and advanced features, the GT-100 is the top choice in floor-based multi-effects for guitarists everywhere. The Version 2.0 update integrates BOSS’ very latest technologies into the GT-100 for enhanced performance while playing live and recording in the studio.
New COSM Amp Effects & MDP Effects
Version 2.0 adds two new COSM amp models—BGNR UB Metal and ORNG Rock Reverb—to the GT-100’s onboard stable of vintage and advanced amps. The update also brings BOSS’ innovative Multi-Dimensional Processing (MDP) technology to the GT-100 courtesy of Tera Echo, Overtone, and A-DIST effects. In addition, Rotary 2 and Acoustic Guitar Simulator effects types have been added as options in the FX1 and FX2 categories.
Enhanced USB Audio Capabilities
The GT-100’s built-in USB audio interface has been upgraded to four channels for more efficient operation while tracking guitar parts in the studio. You’re now able to capture both processed and unprocessed tones at the same time on separate tracks in your DAW. You can also re-amp dry tracks back through the GT-100 while simultaneously listening to your audio mix through USB, making it easy to tweak parameters to achieve the perfect tones for your songs.
BOSS TONE STUDIO Editor/Librarian and New Patches
With BOSS TONE STUDIO, GT-100 users now have a full-featured software editor/librarian for editing and organizing tones from a Mac or Windows computer. Available as a free download, the software also provides a direct link to the BOSS TONE CENTRAL website, where you can preview and download a growing selection of free GT-100 Version 2.0 patches directly into the effects processor via USB.
Guitar-to-MIDI Conversion from a Normal Guitar
GT-100 Version 2.0 also adds a unique monophonic guitar-to-MIDI function that lets you have fun with soft synths and other MIDI instruments in your computer from your normal axe, with no special pickup required. Powered by newly developed BOSS technology, guitar-to-MIDI conversion works with Roland’s free Guitar Friend Jam software, and also lets you experiment with using your guitar to create MIDI sequences in music production software.
GT-100 Version 2.0 Update Info
The GT-100 Version 2.0 software is available now as a free download for all GT-100 owners. The update will be quick and easy to install from a computer via USB.

Many users have asked fot the function “spillover” when changing a patch (for example the tail of a delay or a reverb). Is that missed improvement included in this update?
March 18, 2014 @ 1:10 pm
Thanks for asking us about this. We have not seen V2 yet, so we do not know all that may have changed. We expect V2 to be available for download from the BOSS TONE CENTRAL website around mid April.

Hi Boss crew, please include in V.2 the Level Meters back again as you had in GT-8 and GT-10.
This is helpfull for volume leveling for 4 cable method and also to adjust the input level according to the pickups used in diffrent guitars.
Thanks for reading.
March 18, 2014 @ 7:33 pm
Will this update completely erase patches I already have in order to instal the update?
March 19, 2014 @ 2:37 pm
We don’t have a finalized version of the update yet, so we do not know for sure. Generally, performing such an update does not usually erase patches; of course, it is a good idea to back up your patches anyway. Version 2 should be available for download in mid April from the BOSS TONE CENTRAL website.

It’d be nice of all the Marketing verbiage didn’t state that it was here.
“GT-100 Version 2.0 is here!” all over the place. I wasted a good bit of time looking for the link. :/

Will this update create more realistic patches, higher quality sound or something like that?
March 31, 2014 @ 10:05 am
Here are some of the things the V2 update will do:
• Two new amp models: BGNR UB Metal and ORNG Rock Reverb
• New MDP effects powered by innovative BOSS technology: Tera Echo, Overtone, and A-DIST
• Rotary 2 and Acoustic Guitar Simulator effects types added
• Monophonic guitar-to-MIDI conversion from normal 1/4-inch guitar input

How can I connect GT-100 and GR-55 to use them at the same time alternating the two devices whitout disconnecting any cable? I know this is not the appropiate place to ask something like this, but I ask in other places and no one knows how to do that, appreciate for your response
March 31, 2014 @ 4:17 pm
Assuming that you do not want process the sounds of the GR_55 with the GT-100 but want to use to process the sound of your guitar, there are a few different ways you can do this. Here is the one using the fewest extra cables:
1. Connect a guitar cable from the GUITAR OUT jack of the GR-55 to the INPUT of the GT-100.
2. Create a patch in your GR-55 (or modify any of your existing patches, if you prefer) that turns on the “normal pickups” of your guitar and sends the uneffected signal from your guitar to the GUITAR OUT of the GR-55.
This will feed the unprocessed guitar sound from the GR-55 to the GT-100 when ever you want it be there.

Please will you do a video of the update process to help the less tech savvy of us? The current written instructions for previous updates assume a tech knowledge that not everyone has and state that it is possible to need a service centre visit if you do it wrong, which is a worry. Thank you.
March 31, 2014 @ 4:18 pm
We have not seen the procedure for this update yet, so we do not yet know how simple or complex it is. If complex, we would consider producing a video to help users with the process.

Please tell me the new update will allow for spillover between patches with the delay and reverb. Very annoying when changing from distortion with delay & reverb to cleans. It chops off the tone so harshly that it offends my ears. Surely it’s not that hard to continue the spillover in the output.
March 31, 2014 @ 4:20 pm
We do not have any information about whether this is addressed in V2 or not. V2 should be available around mid-April, so we should all know soon.

we all We all sitting on the edge of our seats in anticipation for the V2 update. With the update so close to release, I’m sure it is been tested by a selected few, could we get there input, as it seems the supporting staff are also a little in the dark. While we all are grateful to know our device is a top notch pedal board capable of this upgrade, I think the uses deserve a little more than a wait and see attitude.

ME-25 has great sounding and inspirational FREEZE effect controlled by expression pedal.
It was bit disappointing when I discovered that Freeze has been discontinued in Me-70 and in the “flag ship” Gt-100. Now Boss reintroduced it in Me-80 but what about Gt-100 owners?!
Don’t you think it would a good idea to include this super function (in exp pedal section) in imminent software update?

Hi guys just asking, if/when upgrade to v2, because your getting and extra of more new effects do you loose some of the old effect. Or are they added on with the old effects. And just have more effects to play with.
April 22, 2014 @ 3:27 pm
The GT-100 V2 update does not take away anything; it adds more effects and functions. Here is what it adds:
• Two new amp models: BGNR UB Metal and ORNG Rock Reverb
• New MDP effects powered by innovative BOSS technology: Tera Echo, Overtone, and A-DIST
• Rotary 2 and Acoustic Guitar Simulator effects types added
• Monophonic guitar-to-MIDI conversion from normal 1/4-inch guitar input

Can anybody explain why Freeze effect is absent in Boss flag ship Gt-100 whlie it is present in Me-80 and Me-25. Your marketing staff want us to buy both or what?
April 28, 2014 @ 2:33 pm
The GT-100 has an effect called Sound Hold, which is similar but not quite identical to Freeze: Sound Hold works on single notes and can hold them indefinitely, while Freeze can sustain chords, but will eventually fade out. Whenever a product is developed, there are always many decisions to be made about what to put in and what to take out. In this case Freeze is included in the ME-80 and ME-25, while Sound Hold along with many other effects not found in the ME-80 or ME-25 is included in the GT-100.
May 4, 2014 @ 1:10 am
If the case of having a harmonizer or overtone. Is it possible to work with sound hold?
May 5, 2014 @ 4:32 pm
Yes: there are two FX groups in the GT-100: FX 1 and FX 2. They both contain a large amount of effects, any one of which you can select and use in a given patch. Both of these groups contain both Sound Hold and Harmonist, while FX2 also contains Overtone. To use them at the same time, just select Sound Hold or Harmonist from FX1 and select Overtone from FX 2.
April 22, 2014 @ 3:13 pm
Can you Roland please tell something about the release of version 2?? It will be until end of this month??

April 24, 2014 @ 9:44 pm
there seems to be a problem with this update, dual channel only works for preamps and not fx and all of them, one example, i put od on preamp b, and then turn on preamp a, but the od sound from preamp b can still be heard, im using single in divide channel ,how can u fix this? fx1 and fx2 does the same, can u fix this? thank you
April 25, 2014 @ 5:35 pm
Version 2 adds several new effects and amps so there are new factory patches to show these features. Many of the new patches, as you have noticed, have only preamps and noise suppressors in their dual channels. However, it is possible to add effects to either channel as before in Version 1 and control them. We added FX2 to channel B in patch P01-1, which is a patch using only preamps in the dual channels. We assigned the ACCEL/CTL pedal to, in addition to switching channels, also turn on and off FX2 and turn on and off the Delay when Channel B was selected. This worked correctly without difficulty. We have not been able to replicate your experience yet, but will continue to test to be sure these functions are working properly.

We do not know of any current plans for a GT-10 version of TONE STUDIO. This could change in the future, but for now there are no plans to produce this.
April 26, 2014 @ 11:36 pm
Thanks Roland. I love the new PC editor and librarian as well. Tera echo is the favourite new effect to my patches which I’m gonna build for now, however I notice that tera echo can only be found in FX2 only. I thought it usually will be available on both FX1 & 2.
April 28, 2014 @ 8:14 am
How can I reamp my dry track with v 2.02? in v 1.0 I could adjust the usb out to reamp. in v 2.02 this is not possible! I can adjust mix level, effect out level, loop back,to effect level and dry out level but how can I reamp my dry recorded track? Please explain with details, I am new to GT100.
April 28, 2014 @ 4:37 pm
The GT-100 v2 is a powerful USB interface with enhanced reamp features. Unlike v1, V2 has what are called primary and secondary USB outs: one sends the effected signal to your DAW, the other simultaneously sends a dry unaffected signal to a separate track. You have output control of each of these, and you can place the USB functions anywhere in the signal path if need be. If you need to reamp, you can simply bring the dry track back into the GT-100’s effect chain, process it as needed and send it back out the primary USB out to your DAW using the LOOP BACK function. Please check pg 2, 3 of the GT-100 v2 manual for more information.
June 18, 2014 @ 8:57 am
Hi there, I do love my GT-100 but am pretty underwhelmed by the manual and lack of easy to follow tutorials. Surely Roland have the resources? I’m having trouble reamping the gt-100 v2 with ableton i can record wet and dry tracks and then listen to the dry one running back into the gt-100 but cannot for the life of me get it to be affected by anything.
June 19, 2014 @ 9:48 am
Hello. When reamping, the GT-100v2 routes the incoming dry signal to the beginning of the effect processor signal path, and sends the reamped sounds to the audio outputs only, not back to the USB port.
August 30, 2014 @ 7:41 pm
OK nobody from Boss is explaining how to reamp. They just keep saying run the dry signal back into your computer. How do you go about running the dry signal back into your computer. Nowhere in the manual on page 2 and 3 says how to do this. Can Boss or Roland please make a Youtube tutorial on how to do this on a DAW. How do I send a signal to my DAW that will then go through the effect chain and then via USB go back to my DAW wet? I have looked all over the internet and have found nothing on how to do it.
September 12, 2014 @ 8:49 am
Hello Michael:
When you use the GT-100v2 to record via USB, it automatically records to two stereo tracks; 1+2, and 3+4. 1+2 is the wet signal (Primary), while 3+4 is the dry signal (Secondary). To reamp the dry track, set the outputs of your DAW to 3+4 and the inputs to 1+2 for the track you want to record to. Then you can run the dry track through the 3+4 outs to the effect processor, reamp the track, and send it back to the computer via inputs 1+2.
Best regards,
Roland/BOSS Product Support
April 28, 2014 @ 12:36 pm
Any tutorials about how to record both processed and unprocessed tracks and how to reamp them later?
April 29, 2014 @ 11:48 am
We do not have specific guidebooks or tutorials for this yet, although there could be many third party tutorials available. The GT-100 Version 2 automatically sends two outputs simultaneously to your DAW via USB: they are called Primary and Secondary. Primary sends the processed, effected sound, while Secondary sends the dry unprocessed sound. Put each on its own track in your recording setup; later when you may need to reamp, you already have the dry track, which you can send back through the GT-100 for reamping. For more information, please refer to pages 2 and 3 of the GT-100 Version 2 manual.

I’d like to connect the GT100 to my PC or laptop via wireless network. I connected the USB on the GT 100 to a Bluetooth transceiver.
First problem -GT100 USB does not have 5 Volt power, I’ve got around this for now.
Second problem – The GT 100 application on the PC/Laptop will not see the BlueTooth USB connection, the PC/Laptop connect to the Bluetooth fine, only the software/driver does not see the the connection. Any help out there?
May 1, 2014 @ 2:48 pm
We do not know of any way to connect a GT-100 to TONE STUDIO on your computer via Bluetooth. For now, you still need to use the USB cable.
May 1, 2014 @ 3:07 pm
You have to contact your wireless device manufacturer.
May 5, 2014 @ 1:03 pm
Hello!
I use the GT-100 mainly in manual mode, as a pedalboard.
Is it possible to define the pedal (1,2,3,4, bank up/down…) for each effect from tone studio?
May 5, 2014 @ 4:31 pm
We do not see this function in TONE STUDIO.
May 7, 2014 @ 11:32 am
I have not upgraded my GT-100 yet but i am looking forward to doing so! Thanks Roland for the upgrade! I do have a couple of questions though. From what I have been reading we will still be able to import our old patches that we have saved in the Librarian, is this correct?
Also I downloaded the the new pre-set list and noticed it did not specify what the accel pedal did in each patch. Was there a reason for this or was it just an omission? Once again on behalf of all us GT-100 owners Thanks for thinking of us!
May 7, 2014 @ 5:12 pm
You can import and use all the user patches from GT-100 Version 1 in GT-100 Version 2. Since it does not remove any parameters, everything you have in your user banks will still work.
You are correct that the Version 2 Patch list does not not indicate the ACC/CTL settings, as did the list for Version 1. We do not know why, but oversight or time constraints are a possibility.
May 14, 2014 @ 4:01 pm
I attempted the upgrade and it told me I do not have enough memory. What’s that about? Am I missing something?
May 15, 2014 @ 12:27 pm
Hi Reg,
Can you describe when it gave you this message, and any more detail? We have not heard of this issue before.
May 15, 2014 @ 3:04 am

I did post this some time back its neither showing up in the blog or been answered.
Congrats boss on this update. Really is awesome. I have a question for you..seen as tablets are here to stay both android and apple . Do you foresee a app that could be used as a MIDI controller/set list /words/backing tracts. Will have a future. You would be the first to do this.
May 15, 2014 @ 12:35 pm
Hi Craig,
The majority of our apps are developed by Roland Japan and we do not have information about what is in development. There are apps that are available from other sources that do many of the things you listed.

How can I calibrate an External Expression Pedal?
ty!
May 29, 2014 @ 9:59 am
Hello Brathzo:
It is not possible to calibrate an external EXP pedal on a GT-100; you can only calibrate the built in EXP pedal.
May 30, 2014 @ 3:19 pm
Can anyone tell me how to save patches from the GT-100 on a computer or put me in touch with a video / tutorial on how to do it/ It’s driving me spare…..
June 3, 2014 @ 10:06 am
If your GT-100 is updated to Version 2, use the TONE STUDIO Program to save your patches. Here are the steps:
1. Turn on your GT-100 and connect it to your computer via USB
2. Open the BOSS TONE STUDIO for GT program. The program should detect your GT-100 and a window will open saying CHOOSE A DEVICE TO CONNECT WITH listing the GT-100
3. Click OK
4. Click LIBRARIAN
5. Click BACKUP

Hi Nestor,
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to transfer sounds from the TD-12 to the HPD-20. You could use MIDI to ‘trigger’ the sounds in the TD-12 from the HPD-20 however.
Kind regards,

Hello,
I will buy the GT-100 to plug in my electrical guitar, but I would like to know, if is possible also plug in my acoustic guitar (Western guitar Takamine) instead my electrical guitar? I only will use reverb and chorus. You ever tried this?
greetings from Germany
Mark
July 14, 2014 @ 5:04 pm
Yes it is possible to use your acoustic with a GT-100.
July 14, 2014 @ 10:37 pm
@Markus, the answer is “yes, you can” 😉
You will find some presets on it, which have been designed for this purpose…
and thanks to the ease of use of the GT-100, you can adapt these in no time to your own taste (try out the Compressors and Noise Gates, too)
best regards to Germany…from Germany 😀

Hello, is it possible to import (damp) my programmed patches from my old GT8 to my new GT100?
July 28, 2014 @ 1:56 pm
It is not possible to import GT-8 patches into a GT-100. They are very different from each other, with different effects, parameters and even technology and therefore cannot read patches from a different unit.
July 28, 2014 @ 8:54 am
Hey Boss,
About the looper.. I’d like to be able to “build” songs in real-time, but usually the chord progression for the verses is different than the chord progression for the chorus. Is there a way to record/save two tracks, assign them to different pedals, and then select which one to be looping? If that’s not currently possible, do you plan on implementing it in future releases?

Hello Mike:
The Looper in the GT-100 does not have separate tracks and its memory is limited to 38 seconds of total recording, so it is not possible for it to do what you are describing. If you need these kinds of loop features, with multiple tracks, 99 phrase location and three hour loop memory, either the BOSS RC-30 or RC-300 can do this and much more. We cannot predict what might be in a future update, but due to memory constraints, it is probably unlikely that the GT-100’s looper could be configured to do this.

having major problems trying to update GT100 to V2. Downloaded the driver for Windows but it will not load. It gets to a point and the installation wizard just says not successful because it cant find the software. I am running XP. I cant load windows drivers at all… Help!

Before you download the GT-100 version 2 driver be sure you have updated your GT-100 to version 2 first; you do not need the driver to do this. You should also uninstall the version 1 driver before installing the version 2 driver.

Hi Aidan, please deactivate all antivirus, spybot, firewall software during the driver update process and make sure u uninstalled the older version. then try to update the driver manually via the device manager…worked for me and took me 12 hours to figure out. good luck

Hi there,
‘m now a proud owner of a GT-100 and I have installed the software Tone Studio. In the lower part of the software, there is a play button, with which you can open a dialog window. There you can upload using the Import button a .wav file. If you click now on Play, nothing happens. Unfortunately I can not find a manual for Tone Studio. Can anyone help me?
regards Markus

The Tone Studio instructions are included in the folder you downloaded when you installed Tone Studio. They are below the installation instructions in the same text document as the instructions.
Regarding uploading a WAV file: be sure it is a 44.1kH 16 bit stereo file. Tone Studio will not play WAV files at other specifications.

Hello! After installing this new version, can I go back to the previous GT-100 firmware? Can someone help me?

Hello Pablo:
It is technically possible to downgrade a GT-100 version 2 to an earlier version, but the earlier versions may not available for user download, so if you need to do this, you will probably have to send your GT-100 to our service department for this procedure.

Just wondering, now that Boss has released the DS-1X and OD-1X, if those pedals will be in a future update; or is the DA-2 Adaptive Dist type effect in v2.0x considered equivalent and sufficient?
I love the A-Dist FX, it gives me a Ritchie Blackmore kind of tone out of my strat, and a very Marshall tone overall, with clarity. I like it better than any of the COSM models, actually. It doesn’t suffer from CW syndrome, and sounds and behaves very tube-like.

Hello:
We’re glad you like the A-Dist effect in the GT-100. We have no information about whether the OD-1X or DS-1X will be available in a future update.

Hello – I’m not sure about the new polytuner? I know that you can strum and it’s supposed to show what’s sharp, flat, or in tune, but tuning each string seems to be real strange now….like I can hit an high e harmonic at the 12th fret and the tuner will tell me it’s a completely different note and bounce back and forth between wrong notes. I have to strike it several times just for it to recognize the correct note. The tuner before ver.2 seemed to work a lot better (for me anyways). Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks!

Hello:
Thanks for contacting us about this. We have tested the GT-100 v2 tuner function here and did not have the same experience. Does your unit do this when the poly tuner is off (Mode is set to Metronome)? In case there is an input level issue, you might try adjusting the input level in the SYSTEM settings.

After several test I´m facing this issue:
The primary and secondary outputs are sending only the dry signal.
Believe me, I tried really hard.
Someone had the same situation? Solved this?
Thank you.

According to the new v2 addendum*, there is a new phase control for the Send/Effects Return. This seemed like a godsend because my Marshall TSL100 has a parallel effects loop that creates a phase issue, (despite knobs being set to “10”, it’s still not a true series loop). I use the 4 cable method.
However, the Adjust parameter only seems to work in Direct Mix or Branch Out modes, not Normal mode as claimed; in Normal mode I hear no difference at all, which is where I needed it most. I definitely hear it in the other modes but can’t use them as that just introduces clean bypassed signal along with the preamp distortion I’m using in the amp itself.
*Adjusts the phase between the GT-100’s
internal processing and an external effect unit
connected to the SEND/RETURN jacks.
You can adjust this if the MODE parameter is
set to NORMAL or DIRECT MIX.

He does a very good explanation of it

Thank you, but I don’t have a problem with understanding the 4 cable method. It’s working. (and I’ve seen the video before)
The problem is that the 4 cable method doesn’t work well with parallel effects loops, it works best with serial effects loops, and there’s really nothing that can be about it without a phase adjustment in the effects one is using.
This is why I got excited about the update for the GT-100; the problem is, it doesn’t seem to work. I hear no difference in normal mode.

I just updated to v2, do I need to download new patch’s to take advantage of the new effects or are they included in the update? I am aware that I can always make my own but I like the factory patch’s just fine.
August 28, 2014 @ 1:31 pm
Hello:
GT-100 Version 2 contains many factory patches using the new effects and amps, so you do not need to download other patches just to have some using the new effects.

I used to be able to open Tone Studio and download the saved tones from Tone Central, but now when I open the studio and click on “tone central” in the bottom left corner, the program just never stops loading (darker screen with the cyan symbol blinking in the middle). Any ideas?

Hello Mike:
We encountered this with one of our computers here. There could be several issues here. Try logging on as an administrator, or right click to start the program as administrator; sometimes Windows only lets certain programs connect, while other are not allowed unless permission as the admin is given. It is also possible that some other app is interfering, so try turning off any other app running that might want to connect to the internet.

So I am the drummer and I also have the job of running the mixer. Our guitar player just started using the GT-100 in practice. I noticed that when he pedal selects to a different “sound”, the GT-100 output signal level can change dramatically. What I am trying to prevent is having to constantly adjust the mixer because his signal level changes every time he changes. What do anybody recommend?
September 11, 2014 @ 2:25 pm
Hello Rick:
Like many multi effects, the GT-100 has many different kinds of presets with varying volume levels. It is possible to preprogram the output volume of each patch so you don’t have to ride the faders every time a patch is changed. Here is how to do it:
1. Press EFFECTS
2. Turn knob 4 to select MST (master)
3. Turn knob 5 to adjust the output of the patch
Thanks for checking with us about this.

Very happy with my new GT-100, but a few questions remain:
– Can I use the patches from my GT-10, if so how do I save those in Librarian?
– Are GT-10 patches going to be available for the GT-100 through Boss Tone Central?
September 12, 2014 @ 8:44 am
Hello:
GT-10 patches are not compatible with the GT-100; there are too many technical and feature set differences between these two products for the patches of one to work in the other
